Photos from MET 2020 Assyrian New Year Celebration with Dr. Sargon Donabed

On March 7, the Assyrian Studies Association hosted upwards of 150 attendees at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World in New York City. The day began with curator-led tours of the Assyrian Sculpture Court at the Met, followed by curator-led tours of ISAW's exhibition "A Wonder to Behold," and ended with a lecture by Dr. Sargon Donabed entitled "Living Mesopotamia: Ideas, Community, and Creations."

Many thanks to event volunteers and sponsors, including the Assyrian American Association of Southern California, the Assyrian American Cultural Organization of Arizona, and the Assyrian American Association of Massachusetts for their support in bringing this day into fruition.

The Assyrian Studies Association promotes interest in and scholarly study of Assyrians and Assyria. It provides means for the publication of scholarly research and other materials designed to promote Assyrian studies. It promotes cooperative activities and exchange of information within the field and facilitates contact between scholars and scholarly organizations.
